Cover Songs

Hey folks. I'm throwing this request out there for a podcast I'd like to do in December. The idea is quite simple: "Transcendent Covers". I want to compile a show of unique, beautiful cover songs. There is too much ground to cover so you'll earn points for originality. But overall, I want covers that are (and this is open for debate) better than the original versions. Think "Wonderwall" by Ryan Adams or "Mad World" by Gary Jules. Cheers!

What about Matt Pond PA's version of Neutral Milk Hotel's song "In an Aeroplane over the sea"?

For Pearl Jam I would offer the cover of Masters of War from the Bob Dylan 30th anniversary celebration concert. It's not the whole band, just Vedder and McCready with GE Smith on mandolin.

Nice call on the Tegan and Sara cover. They are far and away my favorite lesbian twin folk punk band from Canada. It's not even close.

They do a pretty good cover of Springsteen's Dancin' in the Dark, but the recording floating around the web is pretty crappy.

Shar and I saw a great band at Ren Fair that played gypsy music. They did a phenomenal cover of Kashmir. Check out

I don't want to say that it's _better_ than the original for fear of hanging my the music elite, but I like the Nouvelle Vague cover of The Buzzcocks 'Ever Fallen in Love.'
